TREKKING DAY 1

Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa

The ride from Moshi to Londorossi Gate is over 4 hours. You’ll complete all the necessary formalities before beginning the hike. We’ll then drive all the way to Lemosho trail, where we’ll begin our hiking journey through the rainforest, all the way to the location where our camps are pitched.

TREKKING DAY 2

Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp

• The hiking duration is between 5–6 hours
• Habitat: Heath

On this day, we’ll head out to the rainforest and into the tall grasses of the savannah. You’ll get to see the heather volcanic rocks wrapped with lichens. As we climb up the hills and pass by the running streams, we’ll get to the Shira Ridge, where we set down our first camp. From our campsite, you’ll be able to view Kibo Peaks from beyond the plateau.

TREKKING DAY 3

Shira 1 Camp to Moir Hut

We’ll spend an entire day exploring the beautiful Shira Plateau. Shira Plateau is a relatively easy walk, and the trail up there is more or less flat. As we reach Shira 2 Camp, we’ll go to Moir Hut, located at the end of Lent Hills. This easy walk is an opportunity for you to acclimatize.

TREKKING DAY 4

Moir Hut to Lava Tower

Lava Tower to Barranco Camp

• The estimated elevation will be from 15,190 ft to 13,044 ft
• The distance covered will be 3 km/2 miles
• The hiking duration is 2–3 hours
• Habitat: Alpine Desert

This day’s hike will be all the way to Lava Tower. It is almost 300 feet tall. We’ll commence ascend up toward southeast. From there, we’ll climb down and make our way to the Barranco Camp. You’ll be rewarded with the spectacular and exotic view of Senecio Forest, situated over 13 thousand feet high. Most of the time during the day will be spent at a high altitude which will be very helpful for acclimatization.

TREKKING DAY 5

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

• The estimated elevation will be from 13,044 ft to 13,106 ft
• The distance covered will be 5 km/3 miles
• The hiking duration is 4–5 hours
• Habitat: Alpine Desert

This day’s hike to Karanga Camp will begin by climbing down to the bottom of the Great Barranco Wall. We’ll climb up the steep cliff that is almost 900 ft. We’ll then cross multiple valleys and hills on our way to the Barranco Wall until we reach Karanga Valley. Our campsite will be at a brief distance. Once we reach Karanga Camp, we’ll get to rest and acclimatize to higher altitudes.

TREKKING DAY 6

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

• The estimated elevation will be from 13,106 ft to 15,331 ft
• The distance covered will be 4 km/2 miles
• The hiking duration is 4–5 hours
• Habitat: Alpine Desert

The next day, we’ll begin the journey to Barafu Camp. We’ll hit the Mweka Trail, and after completing the Southern Circuit, we’ll camp near Barafu Hut. You’ll have a spectacular view from different angles. You can rest, enjoy your meal, and make preparations for the next summit day. We can see the spectacular views of Kibo and Mawenzi view from this camp.

TREKKING DAY 7

Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak

• The distance covered will be 5 km/3 miles
• The hiking duration is 7–8 hours

Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

• The estimated elevation will be from 19,341 ft to 10,065 ft
• The distance covered will be 12 km/7 miles
• The hiking duration is 4–6 hours
• Habitat: Rain Forest

For our next hike, we’ll wake up before midnight so as to reach Uhuru Peak and enjoy the sunrise at Mawenzi as well. You’ll have time to celebrate and make memories by taking photographs of the sunrise and the view.

TREKKING DAY 8

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

• The estimated elevation will be from 10,065 ft to 5,380 ft
• The distance covered will be 10 km/6 miles
• The hiking duration is 3–4 hours
• Habitat: Rain Forest

On our last day of the hike, we’ll head over to Mweka Gate from the campsite. On reaching there, we’ll collect our certificates. The journey to Mwerka Gate will be at a lower elevation; therefore, the trail is expected to be muddy. Once we reach the gate, you’ll be escorted back to your hotel in Moshi.

SAFARI DAY 1

ARUSHA – TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

On safari day one, you’ll be picked up from your hotel and escorted to Tarangire National Park. It’s a 2-hour drive from your hotel Moshi, where you’ll get to view giant baobab trees, marshes, and savannahs. The park is most famous for the diverse species that migrate to the park during different seasons. You’ll get to see buffaloes, lions, leopards, elephants, wildebeests, cheetahs, and other rare birds and vultures. Tarangire National Park is also home to some of the endangered animals like fringe-eared Oryx and ashy starlings. You will be able to spot the animals and enjoy the landscape from the roof of the vehicle. You’ll then spend the night at a lodge in the park.

SAFARI DAY 2

KARATU – SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, the next day, we’ll begin our journey to Serengeti National Park. It is one of the largest parks in Tanzania. It is known for its diverse species and landscape, i.e., lakes, thick bush, and savannah. Serengeti is famous for the yearly migration of zebras to find fresh water and grass.

SAFARI DAY 3

SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK – NGORONGORO CONSERVATION

On your way to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you’ll enjoy lovely views before leaving Serengeti National Park. You’ll also get to see Maasai Boma and their traditional habitat. The lodge for the evening will be located at Ngorongoro crater.

SAFARI DAY 4

NGORONGORO CRATER – ARUSHA

The next day, you’ll have your breakfast and climb down over 600m for the Ngorongoro crater. You’ll get to see the collapsed volcanoes that have become home to over 25 thousand mammals, including rhino, lion, leopard, and hyenas. You’ll enjoy a picnic at Hippo Pool before you leave the crater and drive down to Arusha.

SAFARI DAY 5

DEPARTURE DAY

On the departure day, you may plan to fly home or to Zanzibar. You’ll be escorted to the airport to catch your flight by our staff.
