Lemosho – Crater

9-days lemosho + crater camping - PRICE $6,050

Overview

This is a unique and adventurous camping program. Crater camp is pitched at Mount Kilimajaro, almost 18,000 ft directly above sea level. This is an excellent chance for those who want to explore the Northern Circuits and Lemosho. You can avail yourself the opportunity of adding another day to your itinerary and make it a total of a 10-day program to explore the Northern Crater route too.

We’ll set off for the summit during the day and make sure to be at the crater camp soon after the summit ends. All mountain crew will remain at the camp during the program, except for the guests and the guides. Camping on Mount Kilimanjaro is challenging as it requires equipment that our crew will carry along during the expedition. The mountain crew will be climbing up more than 4000 ft than they usually do. Hence, the additional cost of the crater camp route.

All guests will choose at crater camp to either explore the surrounding areas and go further to see the Furtwangler Glacier or hike to Reusch Crater. Both the options offer spectacular sights. You can see the ash pit from the Reusch Crater. The ash pit is over 400m wide and almost 120m steep. Check out the video below for more.

Please be aware of the risks of sleeping at such a high altitude. People who aren’t used to or haven’t been able to acclimatize adequately may develop high altitude sickness and even have trouble breathing. Check out ‘Should We Sleep at Crater Camp?’ for more.

For safety concerns of our guests and crew members, only a few will be able to avail the 10-day Northern Crater Route program. It is also subject to Afrilion Expedition’s approval.
