Day Trip at Materuni Waterfalls and Coffee Tour
Enjoy a day trip to the beautiful Materuni Waterfall, locally known as Nambe Waterfall, near the edge of Mount Kilimanjaro. Materuni Waterfalls is located in a village called Materuni. Materuni village is famous for its aromatic and rich coffee. On this fun and adventurous trip, you’ll start the day with a perfect cup of rich and flavorsome coffee that you’ll get the chance to make yourself—just the way you like it. You’ll also get some help from the locals who will share a few secrets about coffee making with you.
After having coffee, we’ll head over to the Materuni Falls. It’s going to be a short but difficult hike up to the falls. However, the majestic view of the cascading waterfall will make it worth it. You can jump straight into the water pool after a challenging hike. The water is completely safe for bathing and swimming. You’ll have your lunch while enjoying the waterfall view after your swim.
Itinerary
You’ll be escorted from your hotel at 9:00 AM by Afrilion Expeditions’ guide. You’ll drive all the way to Kilimanjaro’s hills and head over to the beautiful Materuni village. It’ll be a half-hour hike from there to Materuni Waterfalls. On our route to the waterfalls, we’ll also get to see the local farmers growing coffee. Your guide will talk about how the farmers of Materuni village grow coffee and process it. On your way to the waterfall, we’ll stop over to make a cup of coffee and enjoy it. This will take only one hour.
After enjoying an aromatic and rich cup of coffee, we’ll walk for over 45 minutes before we reach Materuni Waterfalls. We’ll pass the Chagga villages in Mount Kilimajaro during our walk. All the guests will be served lunch near the waterfall that they can enjoy with a view of nature and cascading waterfalls. On this trip, you’ll get to see a diverse number of species, exotic plants, and trees and drink the best coffee you’ve ever had!

Materuni village is located just outside the Kilimanjaro National Park and is home to the ancient Chagga tribe. Our trip begins from Moshi Town, from where we drive you to Materuni Village. After reaching the village, we’ll then lead you on a hiking expedition to witness the majestic Materuni Waterfalls and the breathtaking fauna and flora surrounding it.
