Overview
This will be a seven-day rich program where you’ll get to explore the national parks of Northern Tanzania. From Tarangire’s giant baobabs to flamingos’ flamboyance at Lake Manyara, you’ll enjoy the program. The itinerary also includes a visit to Ngorongoro Crater, where you’ll observe the volcanic rock formation. The volcanic crater is over 2 million years old. The route will continue down to Serengeti Park. At Serengeti, you’ll have the opportunity to observe the wildlife up close. You’ll also get sufficient time to photograph everything and make memories that you’ll always cherish.

Our representative will greet and escort you to your hotel in Arusha from Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO).
Itinerary
DAY 2: TARANGIRE BIRDS DESTINATION

Right after breakfast, your safari guide will arrive at your hotel to escort you to your first safari. The receptionist at the hotel will inform you about the driver. Tarangire National Park is a few hours’ drive away from the hotel.
Tarangire is home to a large and diverse number of birds and animals. You’ll get to see animals like buffalos, lions, zebras, and giraffes. However, the park is most famous for a huge number of elephants, which are found near Tarangire River, their drinking source.
Remember that Afrilion Expeditions don’t guarantee your safety in the presence of wildlife animals. However, we’ll make sure to protect all our guests and help them spot their favorite animals.
We’ll stop for a lunch break and continue the safari before heading back to the hotel in the evening.
DAY3: RIFT VALLEY LAKE

The next day, you’ll have early breakfast and set off to Lake Manyara. Lake Manyara is located in the Moduli District of Arusha. You’ll see the beautiful cascading streams, wetlands, several springs, and plants growing at the edge of Rift Valley Lake. Lake Manyara is also famous for its diverse wildlife population, like elephants and flamingos.
At lunchtime, we’ll enjoy our meal with a view of Maji Moto springs. The safari will continue for a few more hours before we set off to our hotel in the base of the Ngorongoro volcanic crater in the evening.
DAY3: RIFT VALLEY LAKE

The next day, we’ll wake up early, have breakfast, and travel to Lake Manyara. This park area is known for many elephants, lions, and flamingos. It is also home to a diverse number of different species of birds.
You’ll enjoy your lunch break at Maji Moto, where you’ll have a meal with a view. You will continue your safari and head back to your hotel in the evening. Your hotel will be at Ngorongoro volcanic crater.
DAY4; INTACT CALDERA/NGORONGORO CRATER (THE BLACK HOLE)

On day four, we’ll head out as early as possible to see animals that are only active in the early morning. Ngorongoro Conservation Area is only an hour away from the hotel. You’ll have your breakfast meal packed in lunch boxes that will be served to you later on.
Ngorongoro Conservation Area is one of Tanzania’s renowned national parks where you’ll find diverse species in great numbers. You’ll find buffalos, elephants, wildebeests, hippos, and zebras. If you’re lucky enough, you may also get to see rhinoceros and other endangered animals.
We’ll head over to the lakeside at lunch break and enjoy our meal. After lunch, we’ll continue the safari and head over to Serengeti National Park in a few hours.
On the way to Serengeti National Park, we’ll also stop over the memorial of two famous West German researchers, Michael Grzimek and Bernhard Grzimek. The Grzimeks helped preserve Northern Tanzania’s parks in their natural state.
After paying our respects, we’ll set off to a hotel in Serengeti.
DAY 5: MAJESTIC SERENGETI
AREA: 30,000 KM2 (12,000 sq mi).
Serengeti is known for its lion population. It is also home to over 500 bird species and other large mammals.
You’ll have an early breakfast and go on a safari to the southern parts of the park. These parts of the park consist of wide-open spaces and savannahs. If you’re lucky, you may also get to see a cheetah preying on an antelope up close.
We’ll head back to the hotel by the evening. You will enjoy a delicious meal and rest for the night.
DAY 6: MAJESTIC SERENGETI
On day six, you’ll have breakfast and commence the program by setting off to the central region of Serengeti Park. The guide will help you spot animals that you’re interested in. During the lunch break, you’ll head over to Serengeti Visitor Centre, where you’ll relax and enjoy your lunch. During lunch, your guide will provide information about animals and the park’s history. Here, you’ll also get to see Hyraxes.
Serengeti Valley is inhabited by thousands of cheetahs, antelopes, giraffes, jackals, hyenas, buffalos, lions, and ostriches. Make sure to always keep an eye out for these animals.
We’ll head over to the Northern part of Serengeti in the evening. You’ll be transferred to your hotel for the night.
DAY 7: MAJESTIC SERENGETI
On the last safari day, after breakfast, we’ll set off to the northern part of Serengeti to explore the diverse landscape and fauna. You’ll get to see animals found in the remote areas of the park.
The safari will finish by early afternoon. The driver will escort you back to your hotel in Arusha, where you can rest.
DEPARTURE
Get some rest at the hotel before leaving for the airport.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- All guests are prohibited from leaving the vehicle during the safari. Violating this rule can result in heavy penalties and license revocation for the company.
- Driving off-road is prohibited as it can cause irreparable damage to the ecosystem of the parks.
- You’re allowed to smoke during the expedition, as long as you extinguish the cigarette butt before disposing of it. Unextinguished cigarette butts can cause a fire.
- All guests are requested to avoid putting their feet up on the safari vehicle’s car seats. You’re also requested to avoid sitting on the back, as it can make the vehicle unstable.
- Hotel check-out time is 11:00 AM. If you wish to extend your stay due to a late flight, it will cost you an additional fee.
- The hotel cost only covers breakfast meals.
